Dates

The deadline for submitting artworks is March 31, 2023 (currently extended one more week). The winners will be announced on April 28.

Prizes

The artwork that receives the most votes from our Jury will be awarded the first prize of 3,500 €. Additionally, a selection of artworks will be showcased on our social media platform, which has over 600,000 followers. The announcement of the winners will be made on April 21st, and the Jury may also grant Honorable Mentions to deserving entries. Furthermore, an interactive procedure will be conducted by a democratic jury consisting of Contemporary.paintings' Instagram followers to determine another prize, which will further enhance the exposure and recognition of the artists and their artworks.

It is important to note that the Jury's decision is final. The artwork that receives the first prize (3,500 €) will become the property of Contemporary Paintings, and the winning artist will be responsible for shipping the artwork and contacting our team in advance regarding any necessary information or inquiries.

The online exhibition of the selected works will be launched on our website and social media channels on May 1st, 2023. Participants should be aware that if they do not intend to concede their artwork, they will be disqualified from the competition. If a participant disagrees with this rule, they must refrain from participating.

Finally, the winners, and on their behalf, their tutors or legal representatives, authorize Contemporary Paintings to use their names and images for advertising purposes, and grant the exclusive rights to use any texts, images, or materials submitted for the contest. These rights include, but are not limited to, fixation, reproduction, distribution, public communication, and transformation.

Registration process

In order to participate you need to buy first at least one participation.
Please, send your artworks in HD (more than 2 MB) with the following information: your artistic name + your real name + titles of your paintings + techniques used + date of the completion, and measures in cm at contemporaryfiguration@outlook.comYour bio, description of your practice, and context of your artwork can also be helpful for the jury to deliver the final results.

Jury

The jury will select potential winners and honorable mentions. We are content to count in with the presence of renowned and experienced artists such as Mark Tennant, Guillermo Lorca, Mauro Martínez, Pau Marinello & Jordi Díaz.

Judging Criteria

The Jury will choose the winners of this contest evaluating aspects such as talent, technical quality and originality of the work from among the finalists. Likewise, the Jury will also choose reserves in the event that the prize cannot be assigned to the winners.

Is it creative?

Is it original and interesting?

Is there overall quality of the medium being used?

Does the creative work stand on its own?

The composition and design of the work are also a judging criterion.

Note: The quality of the images submitted will also play a role in the judging process.

Terms & Conditions

Participation is open to all artists with no restriction of location, regardless of age or professional status. Several works are accepted per author and the rights must be fully owned by the artist. The theme is free as well as the technique used to create every piece. The Technical skill and originality of the subject will be valued. The dimensions are free. The call for entry must clearly define all rules governing competition entries, specifications for work entered, any and all fees for entry, and any and all rights to be transferred by entrants to the competition. Jurors for the competition will be listed on the call for entry. No juror or employee of the organization holding the competition is eligible to enter the competition. Jurying criteria and specifications for submitted artwork in all rounds will be defined clearly in the call for entry as a guide to both entrants and jurors. Artwork will not be altered in any way without the express permission of the artist. All entries and rights to the artwork remain the property of the artist unless a separate written transfer and payment for the original have been negotiated. Deadlines and the process for notification of acceptance or rejection of all entries shall be listed in the call for entry. Any and all uses for any and all entries shall be listed clearly in the call for entries, with terms for any rights to be transferred. Any work not received by the required deadline or not in the form required and agreed upon will be disqualified. All rights to any disqualified artwork remain with the artist.
