Awake In The Morning is a painting from my 2021 show titled "Altered Allusions" focusing on removing information from traditional religious imagery. When information is lost we are forced to lean into our memories to fill in the missing parts and work to make sense of what we see. The painting then becomes a mirror to our own ideas, memories, and predispositions towards the subject.
